WHY I LEFT SOCIAL MEDIA IN 2021🤔

There’s really no simple answer to why I decided to begin February 23, 2021, leaving social media and its related platforms, such as: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc., etc. There is truly a virtual cornucopia of reasons that I don’t have the energy to expound upon.
A day or two ago, my wonderful wife Suzanne received a private message from a sweet and dear fan of SIX (the singing group that I belong to with brothers from my family) wondering if she had done anything wrong, to become unfriended. The fact is: I unfriended everyone, including my own wife and brothers, along with other family members, relatives, close friends and the general public. It is absolutely nothing personal.
I did this once before, back in October of 2018, thinking it was probably a permanent action (obviously, it wasn’t🤪). Months later, I decided to come back and little by little, began accepting friend requests, with the intention of giving it one more “college try“😉
I am sorry to those who’ve experienced a sense of loss and any associated negative feelings, as a result of my departure.
My thoughts, feelings, attitudes, knowledge, etc., have changed dramatically over the past decade, especially over the last few years and even more so since the COVID-19 pandemic and shut down of 2020. I’ve rearranged my priorities and some of them have actually been rearranged for me, simply because of the changes I’ve gone through. It seems some changes have even been somewhat exponential (in other words: as time has passed, the changes have become more substantial, more frequently). Essentially, there’s been a complete overhaul of the paradigm that I now exist in.
Personally/spiritually, I’m in a better place than I have ever been during my nearly 60 years on this earth (I’ll be 60 this June ‘21). I’ve developed more patience, more compassion and more understanding and I’m closer to God than ever before.😇 I am also more sorrowful for humanity than I’ve ever been, though and in my opinion, the news and social media, especially, have been used to wreak more havoc upon my brothers and sisters of this huge worldwide Family of God, than almost anything else.😔
As I already said, things that used to be highly important to me have taken a backseat and things previously on the back burner are now at the forefront of my mind.
In my opinion (as I already mentioned above), most of the things that are shared in both news and social media are mostly harmful to humanity. So many have allowed themselves to feel at liberty to be absolutely unkind—sometimes even brutal—to their fellow humans on social media, simply because they’re sitting at a keyboard behind a computer monitor and therefore don’t have to come face to face with the person (which would make that person real) or group of people they are being hateful towards or otherwise excoriating.
As a society, we’ve lost our humanity on social media. Many have no problem ‘canceling’ (socially murdering) another person or their reputation, online. Many give it no more thought than they would, swatting a fly. In fact, for many quite pathetically, the life of a fly has more value than the life of a human, in their eyes!🤯
Please avoid for your own sake, taking my departure from social media personally, if such would normally be your inclination. Despite how cliché it may seem, I sincerely mean it when I say, “It’s not you; it’s me.” I otherwise love my fellow humans and wish only for “peace on earth [and] goodwill towards [all]” (for that is what the angels heralding the birth of Christ the Savior exclaimed, together [thus making it God’s Word]❣️😄
Finally, a small NOTE: because I’m one of the Administrators for SIX’s FB account and many account logins as well and also because some Oculus-brand hardware I own and its apps would be non-functional if I were to delete my Facebook account, I will keep it, but leave it alone.🙄🤷🏻♂️🤔🙃
Keep on keepin’ on and I’ll see you on the ‘other side’!✌🏻🕊😌
